Can you help IDing a cookbook

While we were talking about cooking my friend recalled an article she’d read in which various accomplished chefs were asked about what cookbooks they use/read/like. She said there was one that several mentioned that includes substitutions and how to fix a broken sauce and things like that.

I’d love to figure it out and get her a copy.

From what she said I gathered that it was older than How To Cook Everything. And it’s not Joy of Cooking because I know she has that.

Any guesses?

Could it be the “I Don’t Know How to Cook” book?

Edit: OK, no, I don’t think it could be that, because I doubt famous chefs would have referenced it. It’s just the first thing that came to mind. Will give this more thought.

Edit 2: This may give you some ideas: Chefs’ Favorite Cookbooks - Washingtonian

Edit 3: It might be Julia Child’s cookbook. That seems to get mentioned a lot. Wow, I really should have waited a minute before making this post, huh?
