Can you identify this book?

I don’t remember much about it. I know I read it around middle school. It was a book about this kid who discoveres a loch-ness type monster in this lake. I think. I know the author wrote a simliar book about a sea monster. On one of the covers, it shows a person swiming while a huge monster fish is swiming up underneath them to eat them. Much like the cover of jaws but its a darker blue/ green sea. I wish I could remember more about it. Arg. Any ideas?

Not sure if there was a book that this movie was based on, but the plot is similar.

I’ve read a similar book, maybe the same one. IIRC, the book I read the kid finds a dino egg which hatches. There is a scene where an American tourist sees the dino and claims she saw the Loch Ness Monster. The kids dad watches a lot of cowboy films on TV. There’s a scientist who doesn’t believe the kid’s claims, because dinosaurs are extinct. does any of this sound familiar?

I think the title was “The summer of the dinosaur.” There’s a book of that title by Willis Hall, but I’m not 100% certain its the one I read.

Nope sorry. None of these are it. I’m only 19 so I think this book would have been around in the mid 90’s. For some reason, I think there was a third book. There were three books in this “series” but they didn’t have much to do with each other besides the fact that they were about sea monsters.

What I can remember from the first book, the one with a lochness, is this. I get a feeling that it had been captured by some guys underneath the water and this kid went down an unintentionally saved it. But I can’t be sure. What I do remember is that it was the first book I read where a person was killed. At the time, it was very tramatic. I think that the lochness ate a person or part of them while they were swiming. I know it was extremely terrifying. Well, for as young as I was.

I found it. I spent alot of time searching for it this morning and I came across a book that I recognized.
It was called **The Doom Stone **Here

Once I hit on that, I knew it was by the same author.
Although the covers a little different than the version we had, it was Loch by Paul Zindel

The other book was Reef of Death
