Can you name this game?

I’ve got very little information but since Dopers are experts at naming movies and books with hardly any info, I’m hoping you can do the same with video games.

This was a game my kids rented for our Nintendo system perhaps 10 years ago. It may even have been longer ago than that. It was a driving game. It may have been post-apocalyptic because the only drivers in the game are the characters. You pick a character to drive and the others are against you. I remember vividly driving through and around Las Vegas-- both desert and a hotel (including a pool). I also remember driving around an old airplane junkyard.

For some reason I’m thinking '70s themed. Also the name was something like, but not quite, Super 8.

This was the only driving game until Grand Theft Auto that I ever liked.

Can you describe the graphics? In particular, 2D or 3D? By Nintendo system, do you mean the Gamecube?

First thing that came to mind for some reason was Twisted Metal, except that was a Playstation game and there was never a Vegas level.

Could it have been Rush 2:Extreme Racing USA?

Was it Interstate '76? I loved that game, but it was a PC game, not Nintendo.

It’s spin-off was Vigilante 8 which was for N64, so that was probably it.

Good call! I had that game but totally forgot about it. It was essentially a rip-off of Twisted Metal, but I remember enjoying it.
