I always liked charcoal B-BQ and now I have a gas one but wanted to know is it safe to put a few charcoal pieces on top of the regular coals that are there.
Is it safe because I like the flavour of the “REAL” coals?
I would not recommend putting charcoal on a gas grill, It will get very messy with the ash, and could block up the lines from the tank. If you go to any large home shopping store (Wal-mart, Home Depo, etc) you can but a bag of lava rocks, these retain the heat very well and evens out the temperature on your cooking surface. As for taste you can also buy bags of smoked hickory (various flavors) and they work quite well.
