Can you still get Tab in the states?

My girlfriend is from South Africa, where Tab still flows freely. I was thinking about getting her some as a nice suprise. I seem to recall seeing some here recently, but I can’t find it in most stores. Has it been banned by the FDA or something, or am I just looking in the wrong places?

If your eyes can stand it, look under “Supermarkets carrying Tab” on this page.

I saw it at my local grocery a couple of weeks ago. I remember thinking to myself, “Wow, I didn’t think they still made that stuff.”

It was in a Kroger based store.

I think I saw it in Albertson’s…

BTW, I have been to that page before when I was researching sodas…I hate poor web design.

Wasn’t it a fellow named Cecil who once described Tab’s unique flavor as a “bizarre petrochemical taste?”

Yeah, well… you can’t argue with the lady on this one.

Thanks for your help.

I don’t know if it’s still true or not, but Tab was very popular among Jewish college-aged women from Long Island in the late 1980s. Why, I don’t know. You could try a supermarket in a neighborhood with a large Jewish population, and see if that soft drink preference still holds true.

Last two times I saw em were in The Nuggest Casino in Sparks, NV (Reno metro), and Albertson’s in La Jolla, CA (San Diego metro).

Heck yeah, you can! I’ve had 4 cans today, actually (no, not joking).

It could be regional. There are boxes of cans (you know, 12 can things) of Tab in all the Farmer Jacks and Krogers that I’ve gone to around my area (and those are pretty much the only supermarkets around here). I know I can’t be the only one buying it, since there’s often a case or three missing when I go down the aisle.

And I love that bizzarre taste. MMMMMMMMM, Tab!

Last year, I called Coca-Cola to ask them if they still sold “New Coke”

They sad yes, but only in the Chicagoland area. The rep I talked with said “New Coke” bombed everywhere in the U.S. except Chicago, and they are still buying the stuff.

They’ve got it at the Giant near my college in Baltimore. Nothing beats the taste of Coca Cola with the flavor and the real sugar sucked out and replaced with a semi-carcinogenic sugar substitute. Of course, people in Maryland also put Old Bey on everything, so you can’t gauge by them.

According to Vince Staton’s book “Can You Trust a Tomato in January”, which is about supermarkets, Tab is most popular among people in and around Kentucky. Course, this book is now a dozen or more years old…

Err… Old Bay, that is.

Top’s and Wegmans around here carry it. Of course, we are very close to the Canadian border, so you should be advised that all purchases of Tab will be carefully monitored by customs agents.

Have seen it in Alberston’s here in Phoenix, several times in the last few years, though not frequently.

I’ve found TaB in California, and also here in Hooterville.

TaB is the “miracle beverage” for me. When I drink it, I can stay awake and be perky for very long periods of time. Whenever I go on a long-distance road trip, I make sure I have TaB.

The taste? Nectar of the Gods. Yes, it tastes weird, I guess, but I associate it with long-distance road trips (which I almost always enjoy) so I like the taste of TaB.

The grocery store I go to carries Tab, although I haven’t tasted it in many moons. Your location says Connecticut; if you’re ever up this way (Wellesley, Massachusetts) I can tell you where to find some.

My local Shaw’s carries it - but only in the plastic 2 liter bottles.

Back when it was a Grand Union, I worked there as a cashier. It sold pretty well, actually.

My ex-roommate’s diabetic Mormon homosexual uncle drinks Tab as his soda of choice. So apparently, you can still get it in Jacksonville, FL.

Ummm…wouldn’t a good, strong brand of insecticide concentrate do as a substitute?
