Another vote for “At Rest.” Look at the crossbar on the presumptive "t"s–they’re exactly the same as the crossbar on the “A.”

jeepus, I’m sorry for your loss and I understand your desire to get things just right. But I really think that this is a style of writing “At Rest.” It takes a moment for the eyes to adjust to it and follow the script. This may be very old.
Now that I think about it, it reminds me a little of the way an old friend made her “t” in her letters to me. You know how handwriting changes from one generation to another. If she were living, she would be almost 100 and she was Danish. It is the space and the slightly squared off look that seem so familiar.
Those letters were written long ago, but my mother may have some. That will be too late for you, but it might be good to confirm our thinking.

I did respond to this thread yesterday, posted it and nothing happened. I thought that maybe it would appear in a few minutes, and closed the page, but since it’s still not here, I guess it’s lost forever.
I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for your comments. I appreciate them all. We will be putting this plaque on the box that will hold my mothers ashes. I’m glad to know that it doesn’t mean any thing inappropriate in another language, and am quite fine with it just meaning “At Rest.” If it means something like “Ah Travel,” that works for me too.
Someone asked if there are any makers marks on the back, there are none at all. My Mom had it for a very long time and I do believe it is very old.
I’ve spent half of today and most of yesterday writing a Eulogy for the ceremony with my sister. The day before was sorting through her belongings and the day before that we were writing an obituary. There are a lot of details to handle in this dying business.
