So, I can see why this guy is a former Defense Minister.
So is this why the Canadians refused to help us with the missile defense project?
More likely this guy is a ‘former’ because the party he was a member of went out of power years ago and he went with them. Oh, they’ve been back since then, but I think the new guard figured that this guy was a looooooony.
Hellyer was defense minister during the Canadian Centennial (1967,) during which he officially presided over the inaugural ceremony opening the U.F.O. landing pad in St. Paul, Alberta.
Most people regard this as the sort of fluffy tourist attraction that little towns are famous for (like The World’s Biggest Cruller,) but you’ve got to wonder if he was already cracked enough back then to think that he was involved in Something of Earth-Shattering Importance.
I guess it falls to me to state that really, not all of us are like this. :o

Bah. He’s been an inconsequential nutter for over thiry years. There’s no shortage of nutty uncles in the U.S. either.
