Canadian Dopers???

Hey! Not so fast there swifty! Who sez?? Your chances were pretty good until the “moose f*cker” incident. We, Canadians, a generally tolerant people, do not look too kindly on foul-mouthed foreigners/strangers/aliens. So wash it with soap before you go through Customs and Immigration.

Waterloo, Ontario.

As for "do people actually live there:

Jim Carrey said

“Can-a-da. It was a vast and barren waste land. My good friend NANTOOK and I had to build an igloo to protect us from the elements, polar bears, and flying hockey pucks…”

It goes on from there, but I don’t remember all of it. If you ever get a chance to see it, it is great.

Another situation:

I was sitting in a Shoney’s in Mephis with my Canadian family. We were listening to these people tell their friends about their trip to Canada. They were commenting about how everyone in Canada speaks French. We speak english too, but mostly french. Oh, and for directions to Ottawa “drive north as far as you can go and turn left. You can’t miss it!!”

I am not saying everyone south of 44 is this thick, I have a lot of respect for many Americans and american ideas, but COME ON!!

Vancouver here. Actually gasp Surrey, but I usually won’t admit to that.

Eh, Nika: I think it’s 49:slight_smile:

If you’re parallel-talking, that is!

Been on your trip back East yet?

Winnipeg, but working just outside Calgary.

Edmontonian, and still recovering from the long weekend that a lot of us (depending on which province we were in) just celebrated. Heavily.

Miss Gretchen: You Calgarians make excellent drinking buddies…

No ma’am you’re not alone. Another “more lurker, than poster” Calgarian checking in.

To Burnetter,

Just got back from visiting your part of the world. Went sailing up to Princess Louisa Inlet. Absolutely spectacular.

Oops! Thank you for the correction.

Sheepishly walks away.

Saskatchewan eh, and everyone within reach is invited to the Stubblejumper Dopefest

omni-not: Nope, haven’t left yet. We leave on the 19th. Starting to get pretty excited now - it’ll be nice to get away from work for a couple of weeks.

Let us know how it turned out. BTW, last week-end, I went back to this vegetarian restaurant I suggested a while back (Le Commensal); still excellent quality/choice for a good price. Reason I mention it again is that, should you still wish to go, it’s on … McGill College Avenue, at the corner of Ste. Catherine St. (entrance on McGill College); it would be about half way between Central Station and McGill University.

But there are also lots of cafés and other good eateries on the way.

Have a pleasant trip!

Sorry I’ve been away for so long.

I was busy moving.

I qualify on every account except the first. They gave me temporary citizenship because I can only walk the line after 12 Molsons. They said that if I worked hard and persevered I could get up to 14 in a couple weeks. I have 6 weeks to qualify otherwise they fly me over the border and dump me out of the plane. So much for polite Canadians. You’d think they would at least help me pack.

So anyway, if anybody has any tips on how I can stay sober longer while drinking more, I’d be glad to hear them.

hmm… something that irks me.

why is it that when americans or whoever talk about canadian beer, they always say “i drank 12 molsons” or “wow, that labatts was great.”

when you eat 6 bowls of raisin bran, do you exclaim that you just ate 6 bowls of kelloggs, or a half dozen bowls of post? no. you mention that you had some raisin bran.

canadians don’t drink 12 molsons. they have a dozen canadian, or 12 bottles of ex.

it just stands out to me for some reason.

anyway, resume your thread now…

I personally prefer “High Test” a.k.a. Old Stock. We went out last night and I asked our (young) waiter for a high test and he just gave me a blank stare. When I told him I wanted Old Stock he said they didn’t have it. Bastards.

Drink fourteen of those and come and talk to me…

mmmmmmm old stock, I used to love that stuff… I have many many fond memories… oh who am I kidding? I don’t remember a damn thing from those days

New Brunswick newbie reporting!

(I am not adding that little word at the end, it’s bad enough that I have to say it . . . I certainly don’t want to type it.)

Salmon Arm BC
I too, drink the occasional Old Stock.

My brother buys TNT beer. Truly wicked stuff. I’m 250lbs and got pissed off 6 cans…I’m a cheap date.

I recently bought 50 beer for 40 bux at local beer making shop…great stuff…I got a Canadian Pilsner. Just like Old Style…yummy

Winnipeg, and apparently the only one :frowning:

No, not the only one, Poysyn.

I’m stuck working in Alberta, but my home is Winnipeg. Close to Nucci’s Gelati, The Red Cactus, and Soup Pierre.
