Canadian wants to wear a Kandoora - should he?

Or Khandura or Kandora. However it’s spelt.

Those white Arab man dresses they wear in the Emirates. They look really comfy, especially on hot summer days.

I’m white-ish, but could pass for Middle Eastern and have been mistaken for Lebanese before. Wearing that would probably make me stand out like a sore thumb here.

Would it be offensive to people from that part of the world if I tried wearing one of those, either here or on a trip to the UAE? Does it have any overt religious implications?

Just idly curious, is all. Saw a buddy’s vaycay photo from Dubai, was a bit jealous of his threads.

My Kuwaiti friend calls it a dishdasha. Anyways, here’s the wikipedia article.

I was actually going to post a similar thread, to wit:

Is there any kind of robe-like garment that a white guy in Jersey City can get away with wearing? I could do a dishdasha or a monk’s robe. It all looks good to me.
