Canadopers, immigration advice needed, especially w.r.t. BC

I first want to apologize: I did not realize that a majority of my countrymen/women would decide that the leader they wanted was the most vile among us.

My daughter has the good fortune to be a Canadian citizen, though now living in California. I’m trying to persuade her to have a plan in place to get her family to BC. They are financially able to move when needed.

But I want to make sure this isn’t going to be a frying pan into fire situation. I’ve been reading a bit about Canadian politics and you all have your own fascist problems. I am most concerned about my two granddaughters and the frighteningly misogynistic threats from MAGA. What is your assessment of the Canadian rabid right’s proposals vis á vis gender equality and reproductive health care? And what does it look like the future is for Canada? Do you think your fellow Canadians will embrace these reprehensible ideas as willingly as the US electorate did? I am so ashamed of what I used to think of as my country, and I hope it doesn’t happen to you too.

This isn’t a Factual Question. Moving to IMHO.

There is nothing like Trump up here. The Conservative leader is an Alberta (think Texas North) Conservative, but is no cult leader. Probably more like Greg Abbot, but no Trump. He is not insane. Health care won’t suffer when he becomes PM (which is virtually certain within a year) and, much as he would like, he cannot get abortion banned. He may try to cut taxes, but frugality will likely prevail. In other words he would run a Republican, but not Trump like government.

Thank you @Hari_Seldon. That is reassuring.
