Cancer of penis and clitoris

To clarify Cecil’s last statement - a virus called the Human Papilloma Virus causes genital warts. It has also been implicated in being a factor in women getting cervical cancer, i.e. when they have tested women with cervical cancer, more often than not, they have HPV (herpes used to be implicated also, but that has been disproven). Warts that are in the foreskin of uncirc’d males are more easily missed, and therefore their female partners may not know about the warts and may choose to have unprotected sex (as opposed to “ewww! look at that wart on your penis!” I am so not having sex with you!")
So - Cecil is right in his statement about circ vs uncirc, but not because of cleanliness per se, but more about hidden infectious lesions.

Hi and welcome to the SDMB! A link to the column is appreciated.

Can you get cancer of the penis and clitoris?

Thanks dude - i will remember that!

I realize that penile cancer is much rarer than cervical cancer, but have there been any studies investigating whether HPV may be a factor in penile cancer as well?
