We found a server. Pretty fast, too.
The code from the backup was pretty old. It was missing a change I’d made months ago.

Huh… I actually haven’t had any trouble with the Dope for the better part of a year now.
Funny, it’s been giving me a lot of grief today.
I built some mongo-sized Excel toys that are integral to theoperation of my department and our counterparts in 5 other states. Actually got some bonuses and recognition for the work thankyouverymuch. Came in to work one day and had about a dozen e-mails all asking “Dude? WTF won’t the app run?” I check the server and, sho’nuff the toybox is empty! Call to the IT guy (not MY IT guy, he’s a dope. Called the IT guy from the department I used to work in) and 4 hours later he retreives the toys from last night’s backup. Whew!
Solution?
In addition to the primary shared drive location I’ve got backups on my PC C:/ drive, on my server file, and I’ve e-mailed them to myself at home in case some corporate-sized hackers slay the company. This has paid off–I’ve had to load from my own backups TWICE in the last year. None of the IT guys can/will say who’s deleting the stuff. But now it’s just a minor annoyance and not a Big Old Thang. Pretty sure “Marge the Clueless Fuck” works here too. Or maybe her seestor.
