Canon you disagree with

She laments, “That was the last Weoun clone.” Garak replies, “I was hoping you would say that.” I thought he was going to begin shooting Founders next; an excellent time for her to quit.

The Simpsons stopped having an official canon around the time Principal Skinner became Arman Tansarian.

I agree too. In the 7th season, Kennedy feels forced from the writers, like they are trying to show “Willow’s really gay, not bi.”

I also think Spike should have gotten his soul during the summer between Season5 and 6. He helps too much in season 6 and by season 7, it seems too late to have it happen.

The part that seemed really forced to me was in *Him *(also Season 7) when a bewitched letterman’s jacket causes the girls to fall for the guy wearing it, and Willow decides to turn him into a girl so she can sleep with him. WTF? Oz penis kept her plenty happy, once upon a time! That’s what I meant by her becoming completely unattracted to men, and it doesn’t make sense to me. She’s so unattracted to men that she has to make one she falls in love with (albeit by magic) into a woman? Weird. And, as you say, trying too hard.

On the *Buffy *storylines:

Tara was actually Amy the Rat, made human again in response to Willow’s subconscious wish. Tara first appeared in the Dracula episode where everyone got their secret wish, and Tara is “A Rat” spelled backwards. Willow’s secret wish was to have someone who wouldn’t leave her for someone else.

In the last episode, Willow didn’t actually do just one big “activate all the Potentials at once” spell- she’s simply not that powerful. No, what happened was, Willow performed a death spell on the current Slayer, which activated the next Potential… and then she brought the previous Slayer back to life. Then she did the same on the next one, and the next- it was all automated once she started the process. Evidence? We already knew that life could only be restored to people killed by magic, but not those killed by mortal means (which was why Tara couldn’t be brought back to life, as she was killed by a gun). Also, it had already been established that killing the current Slayer activated the next, who would retain her power when the first was brought back to life. Doing an automated, sequential spell like this would be perfectly in keeping with Willow being a computer nerd- it’s just a series of instructions. The reason she was so nervous about doing it was because it’s necromancy, not because it was a big spell, and she was worried about backsliding into Evil Willow.

And I agree about Willow being bi. Penis was just fine until she found vagina? Please. I think that was just Whedon anticipating the gay outcry if Willow had gone back to men, since he’d already gotten screamed at for killing Tara.

For 20 minutes, in 1560 ?

I do not acknowledge the existence of Enterprise for repeatedly, blatantly, stupidly contradicting already established facts. Encountering the Borg in the 21st century? Vulcans holding back warp technology? What the fuck, guys?!

Incidentally, sometimes it seems to me that I am the only person to master the concept of “If you don’t like it, don’t watch it.” I realized early on that I didn’t enjoy Enterprise, to put it gently, and after that I simply didn’t turn to the appropriate channel when it was on.

I dunno. Hand was fine until I found vagina.

Sometimes hand still pitches in. What a trooper.

For her, personally, yes. I know the Founders have an aggrandized view of their worth, but I don’t really buy into it. What’s one neuron in an ocean-sized brain?

What did that contradict?

I thought she ran the whole joint. Some collective thing when they were all oozing about in the Great Muck or whatever they called it.

The Great Link, and it’s possible, though I always got the impression she was just a representative of their species. An ambassador, but not a president, monarch, or autocrat.

Kitty Pryde is still alive and well, either dating Spider-Man or hanging out with Wolverine. On Earth.

Under no circumstances is she dead or somehow fused into a giant Earth-destroying bullet.

Oh, and Joss Whedon is infested with toothy, blood-sucking, itchy, smelly, ball-chewing parasites resistant to every known treatment on Earth. That should be canon.

You just don’t fuck with Shadowcat.

This link suggests to me that she was the leader.

It looks like it’s saying she’s the Supreme Commander of Dominion forces in the Alpha Quadrant, but not the leader of the Great Link and Memory Alpha and Wikipedia suggest the same thing. It’s quite possible she was given full administrative fiat by the same, but that was never my impression.

Er I think people are remembering the end of Deep Space Nine wrong. The founders were dying. All of them. To a plague made by Section…whatever it was. The Founder WAS fighting to the last man until Odo bonded with her so she could see Starfleet could be trusted into curing them instead of screwing them over worse. It was not to save one Founder it was to save their existence.

Bwuh? Can you give a quick summary for someone who hasn’t read an X-Men comic in about the last 20 years?

Section 31, the Federation’s ultra-secret black ops organization.

I can’t think of anything to add to the thread right now, but I’ll probably be back later with something. >_>

The villains in Whedon’s last arc of Astonishing X-Men fired…well, a planet killing bullet, at the Earth. Kitty made it phase, and thus pass harmlessly through instead of making a huge impact crater. This resulted in her getting caught inside it with the inevitable results for her.

Um, the fact that they didn’t do it? Once they saw that we had warp technology at all, IIRC, they pooled their knowledge with us.
