Can't get my Sims gay couple in bed together

Recently bought Sims Deluxe Edition. Made sure to do cleanup and defrag before installing it. Went through the tutorial. Read the manul from cover to cover.

Cannot get my gay couple to share a bed. Sim Gay Character A goes to bed. When I try to get Sim Gay Character B to join him in the same bed, SGCB goes to the bedroom, sees SGCA already in the bed, so he stops, refuses to get in the bed, turns and goes to the living room where he curls up on the sofa and sleeps there.
Maybe Sims does not approve of homosexuality? I really don’t know. I’ll try again this weekend when I have more free time.

Also after I saved my Sim creations using Sims Creator, I don’t see how I can then later use my creations in a game. The manual says you can, but doesn’t explain how. I’ve played the game several times using different families in different houses, but I cannot figure out how to bring up the characters I created and saved.

Anyone here use Sims Deluxe Edition who could shed some light on this? I’d appreciate it.

You could try giving one dance lessons.

Your gay gharaters have to like each other before they will jump into bed together. I recommend they share a hot tub for a while.

Check that they’re in love. That is, that both characters have a heart next to the relationship with the other one, and that their relationship level is higher than 80, preferably higher than 90. To increase it to that level, use normal communication between them. Make them talk, watch TV, then after they reach 30 in each you may try hugging, then later dancing, then hugging, and carefully go through each of the options until kissing. If something does not work (one character does not like it), backtrack until the level they’re comfortable and try again.

No, sims are not discrimatory. You can do it, it just takes a while.

I know with the heart-shaped bed, you can get two sims of the same gender to have sex with each other “Play in bed” command. What’s even funnier is you can have ONE sim “play in bed” (masturbate?). But it does the same animation. So that one sim is rolling around, bouncing up and down, giggling and making animal noises (sim sex FREAKS ME OUT. They start whinnying and barking when they have sex! )

I have a gay couple in my Sims game, but I don’t have the deluxe edition, so a lot of your post (“saving sims creations” and whatnot) didn’t make a lot of sense. But I think it should work the same way as the old version of the game.

KarlGrenze has got it right. Just because you moved them in the same house doesn’t mean that they know or like each other. Get their relationship level high, and then make them kiss and flirt - that should give them the heart. They’ll share a bed then.

FTR, it’s not the gay factor that’s the problem. You can have the same problem with straight Sim couples, if they don’t know each other.

If it’s anything like the normal version, first get them to fall in love, and even then it might take a while. (You’ve no idea how hard I had to work to finally see the “love bed” in action. For some reason, no matter how hard I tried, my Sim was the worst seductress in the world - the visiting sims would rather play with her guitar than with her.)

Anyway, I got a new monitor! (The old one cut off the bottom 1/4 of the screen and while I could get around that on just normal use, it wouldn’t work at all for the sims) so tonight I get to play again!

From what I remember from when I was addicted to Sims, if they are complimentary astrological signs it helps an awful lot.

Are you saving your characters in the Gamedata/Skins directory? They’re supposed to show up when you pick the head and body of your sim in the game. If that’s not working, then, I’m not sure what’s going wrong.

Wow. Lots of helpful posts here.

For those of you who don’t have the Sims Deluxe Edition, it contains the original Sims as well as Sims Creator. With Sims Creator you can modify the appearance of your Sims person by painting it and changing the color and/or texture of the clothes. You can even upload a photo (of yourself or whoever you choose) to make the Sims person have a new face.

So in theory, you could create a whole Sims family to look like yours. That would be neat.

But before I go putting all that work into an entire family, I’d really like to know how to move my saved creations into a game. Still haven’t figured out how to do that.

But I have all weekend to play with it. Maybe I’ll stumble across a solution.

Yep. But I’ll check tonight to be sure. Thanks.

I have that game too, and I simply can’t get my poor male Sim to have sex with either the female <or> the male friend. Both hug, kiss, dance, and give presents, and are rated as high as you can go. I even have the love bed, but everytime he tries to get them in it, they slap him.

I have great sympathy for my Sim.

FairyDust, are you playing in Texas? Maybe your Sims haven’t heard about the April supreme court decision yet.

My Sims won’t go to bed together, either. It’s their astrological signs, I think. Even when they’re in love, they won’t.

If the Sim guy or gal he’s trying to mack on has a low “nice” personality score, they’ll be a slapper. You also have to make sure that the Sim he’s trying to smooch is in the green on all their motives. He might need to be in the green as well. The other Sims might not want to kiss him if his hygiene is low.

Oh, getting them to sleep together is the easy part. Trying to maintain a twisted love polygon that envelopes the whole neighbourhood regardless of sex - that’s the tricky part.

I hate what that game does to me

Try http://thesimsresource.com

You can get a free rejuvenation chamber, and can up all the green bars on your Sims, so you don’t have to worry about them not being “in the mood.”

I have a gay couple, and like straight couples, they have to fall in love first.

I had a Sim that wouldn’t get in bed with his wife.
He kept going to the same side she was in and getting all annoyed and pulling at his hair.
I thought maybe he only slept on THAT SIDE… but I had blocked his way to the other side with a dresser…

While I am fascinated by the Sims concept, I have never actually played (used?) the software, and reading this thread makes me think of giant alien children putting two humans in a jar and then squealing, “Hey, why don’t they fight or fuck or something?” –shake shake shake–

Now THAT is funny.
