A premium rate dialler on my parents PC that can’t be removed with Ad-aware or Spybot.
Is there any software to prevent these getting on in the firstplace?
Also, should Zonealarm stop pop-ups on my PC?

This site gives a rundown of anti-spyware programs and blockers. See also.
I’ve put this in the References sticky at the top of General Questions.
The first step I would take is to book the PC into Safe Mode (usually by hitting the F8/F9 key while the PC us booting up). Next, download Hijack This and CWShredder from here. WARNING read the Hijack This tutorial before running the program as it makes changes to the registry. If you are unsure what to delete after running Hijack This, go to Computer Cops Hijack This forum and post the log there. Someone should be able to help you out with it.
While in safe mode also run Spybot and Ad-Aware. If you have experience editing the registry, you may also want to go to the run keys and manually delete anything bad from there. Try running a search for the executable in safe mode as well and you may be able to delete it.
Hope this helps.
No, You need a seperate “pop-up blocker” for that. I use Panicware’s free pop-up stopper. It works very well. I hear googles pop-up stopper is also very good.
Thanks all
