I’ve seen it, very rarely. It typically happens in late winter or early spring, when the weather patterns and the temperatures often fluctuate unpredictibly. A sudden rainstorm occurs when there’s still heavy snow cover on the ground; the humid air hitting the surface of the snow pack creates the fog.
Snow! Makes perfect sense now. I can see that happening in that type of situation.
Driving under those conditions is a no-win situation. Even if you pull on the side of the road to wait it out, someone might just not see the line and hit you. Add drinking to the mix and a fatal outcome is almost 100% certain.
“Annoying”? That’s the best adjective you could come up with? Let’s start with “criminal” and start working our way up. Let’s start with a list of everyone else this guy could have killed, and let’s put TartPops right at the head of it. If I were her, I’d be glad he died, too. After all, he’d tried to kill me, first.
And lets not forgot TartPops was the first person there to render aid, as much good as it did them. She might have said (initially, at least) that she was glad the guy died, but she’s also the only person in this thread who did a damned thing to save his life. But let’s ignore that and pile on her because she said mean things.
Driving without a seatbelt: stupid and illegal.
Driving over the speed limit in bad weather: stupid and illegal.
Driving under the influence: stupid and illegal.
Sorry, but this guy ran out of pity two “stupid and illegals” ago. At the very least, I’m glad he died before he could get anyone else killed.
Yeah, the OP might have been a little hyperbolic, but i can’t shed too many tears for someone who drives like that and ends up wrapped around a tree or over a cliff.
I do, of course, feel sorry for anyone they take with them, and for the friends and family that they leave behind. And i’m not actually happy that the idiot is dead; just pointing out that i’ll reserve more of my sympathy for those who don’t contribute so thoughtlessly and selfishly to their own demise.
Well regardless of driving style, license plate style etc etc etc, death is quite a bit more punishment than anyone deserves, including the driver. I really don’t understand the OP.
I suppose my problem was not only with the heartless tone of the OP but that anyone can see the horror of the results of a high speed crash and emerge with the attitude of “serves them right”. I’d be shaking for a week and having nightmares for Christ knows how long but I suppose that’s why the OP is an EMT and I’m not.
TartPops, I will admit that I have been in similar situations and I have wished that an accident happens to such idiot drivers, so I can understand how you feel.
I’d probably have a very similar reaction–after the first one or two such accidents. But if i was an EMT and had to deal with the results of such idiocy on a daily basis, i can see how my horror might, over time, be replaced by a burning anger at the irresponsible fuckwads who cause this sort of carnage with such monotonous regularity.
