Car A/C leaked inside the car. Why?

We drove the Corvette to the Oregon coast this week. Going from Salem to the coast the outside temp was 95º-98ºF the A/C kept the car cool, without overheating, but after a couple hours the fan started making squeaky noises ( iceed up?) and water dripped into the passenger side footwell. Is it broken or is it just from overuse?

This problem was discussed on Car Talk just last week! It might be that the drain in the evapoator is clogged, so water is leaking into the passenger compartment rather than draining away outside. It’s a pretty simple repair to have the debris cleared out of the drain.

We discussed here just about two weeks ago or so as well. Same diagnosis.

No might be about it. The leaking water is because the evaporator case drain is plugged.
The squeaking fan might be because of this, or it might be the fan is on the way out. Fix the case drain and find out.

Thank you!
