What I want in a car audio system does not seem to exist (at least for my 2007 Jeep Liberty). And my needs seem simple.
I would like a unit that is iPod compatible, has a large easy-to-read display, has station select buttons, and a simple, easy-to-grasp volume knob. That’s it.
The after-market unit I purchased last year - admittedly poorly researched - has great sound but little else. The volume knob is designed for the nimble fingers of a three year old. Reading the display is virtually impossible during the day and very challenging at night (and dangerous to attempt in traffic). And there are no station preset buttons.
I’m ready to ebay this unit and take my losses, but I can’t find a replacement that will suffice.
The manufacturers are catering to the youngsters who want a sleek design and flashing multi-color lights with little regard to functionality. Yeah, I know - that is there biggest market. But can’t they offer even one unit for us fat-fingered, vision-challenged fogeys?
