If I am travelling at 60 km’s per hour, would it be better for me to be in 4th gear or 5th gear?
I don’t know about everybody else, but I just go into 5th when I’m not planning on stopping like a block away. You’ll get much better gas mileage that may, but it doesn’t make much difference over really short distances. Otherwise, your car WILL let you know when it doesn’t like the gear you’re in. Hope this helps.
That would of course depend on the vehicle & the road & the slope & the conditions.
The key word here is torque. But I’m not getting into it too deeply. I’ll probably get cursed at anyway, even if I give the right answer.
An American here. Let me do my metric conversion.
60 km
* 9
---
540
/ 5
---
108
+32
---
140 MPH
Damn! You’d better be in 5th!
Oh, wait. Wrong equation.
60 KPH = 37.5 MPH.
I’d stay in 4th if you area anywhere urban. If you’re on an open highway, then 5th might work. Then again, if it’s that open, the speed limit should be highter.
