Car Rally/Digital Scavenger Hunt

Hi! I’m kinda new, kinda not … I used to lurk around here years ago and am recently back in need of ideas from the teeming millions…

I am running a car rally for high schoolers and am out of ideas.
Anybody have any great ideas to share?
Will greatly appreciate your thoughts…

If anyone’s confused, I think the OP is referring to this sort of thing:

I’ve never been on one but I have read about them.

You might try making check points that can only be found with GPS co-ordinates. Might be cost prohibitive though. Most kids I know would like the futuristic/scifi challenge…

Another idea: Death Race! (which isn’t nearly as bad as it sounds)

First things first – go to your local video sales shop, and spend the five bucks on a copy of Midnight Madness (“Huh huh…fagabeefe”).

Once you’ve viewed it, adapt the idea for your own area.

In a nutshell: Get together a bunch of teams. One team per vehicle. The person running the game gives each team some sort of clue that, once properly deciphered, will lead them to another location. At this location will be another clue…and so on and so forth. After 20 or 30 of these, they will arrive at the finish line, where there will be much rejoycing.

A whole mess of us used to do this, and I recently discovered that the guys who ran most of the races set up a web site. They included a page of clues that were used in some of our races, so you can get some ideas on how this works (obviously, these clues will be related to Ocean County, NJ, but you can always adapt).

With a little bit of creativity, and a good crew running the game, it can really make for a fun day. One good tip is to try and work with people who own businesses that are willing to work together on creative clues. We’ve had ones where you had to go to a store and buy a particular item. They had programmed their cash registers so this item would come up as the next clue on the receipt. Quite clever.

Anyway, hope this works out. Keep me posted.
