A strip of plastic trim under the front bumper of my Prius C is coming loose. It has plastic fasteners that clip into square holes on the underside of the bumper. I don’t want to just try to shove them back if I am supposed to do otherwise. How do I reattach this piece?
Same thing happened to me. I took it the repair shop I use and they re-attached it for me at no cost.
What do the plastic fasteners look like?
Do they look something like a fat plastic screw that has been split in the middle? Kind of like the ones in these pictures?
If yes, then yes you just push them back into the receiving hole/slot. They expand a little to hold that piece on but will pull away without damaging the bumper.
You may need to locate new fasteners because some of this type are one-use only, they don’t hold as well if reused.
Isn’t this a fairly new car model? So wouldn’t it still be under the original warranty? In other words, is this something that the dealer can and should deal with?
The tiny little Ace Hardware store in my neighborhood actually stocks those fasteners. You may not find them at your local hardware store, but try an auto parts shop.
If all else fails and they wouldn’t show, you could use zipties.
