I need to know how to fix a scratch in a windsheild. I have heard that toothpaste might possibly work. I’m open to any ideas or what someone might have tried that works. I know that they have these kits you can buy that will do the trick but I was looking to find something that is easy and that I already have at home. Like toothpaste. Thanks for the help.
Calling one of those repair services is out of the question? Many of them will drive out to your home or workplace to do the fix, and the cost is usually pretty small (last time I had it done it was $20 for one star and $10 for each additional star). On top of that, insurance agents will usually reimburse you for the cost (depending on the kind of coverage you have, of course), because they’d rather pay to fill a tiny fault than pay to replace an entire windshield. Call your insurance agent, see if he’ll reimburse you, and then call an auto glass shop.
Those kits are not for a scratch but a crack or star aren’t they & they do work, they cost about $9 & the sooner you do it thebetter the results.
The best repairs that can be made to a windshield scratch
involve soaking some very fine steel wool in kerosene and then rubbing the wool along the scratch…not against the grain, but with it.
I have these half circle scratches from the windsheild wiper on the passenger side of my car courtesy of my sister. (PUTZ!) She didn’t notice there was no rubber left. that grating noise, what’s that! I was away at school and she’s slowly destroying it. damn her…
But anyways, it would be great to get rid of those scratches somehow.
