Carbonation makes you fat?

Okay, that’s not the real deal but I read this on another message board and I was hoping to get the “skinny” on it:

Any validity to this? If so, can you give me cites and proof. I just don’t believe it one iota.

She implies that you are able to eat more but never suggests you actually gain weight however, I am interested in finding out if it’s true.

You’d belch before the pressure from carbonation actually caused your stomach to stretch, wouldn’t you?

Um, this is only anecdotal, but I have noticed that when I drink a lot of Coke, I feel full all the time and eat less. This is REALLY bad because I tend to forget to eat if I am busy or depressed.

I have noticed the same as Cessandra. Also if I get home and dinner is about ready and I don’t feel hungry I will drink a soda. 20 minutes later my stomach is growling. WTF?

Rick, that might be the same concept as an appetizer – you got the juices in your stomach going. If you came home and drank three or four sodas, it might be different.
