In Warren Zevon’s “Carmelita,” he meets his dealer on “Alvarado Street, by the Pioneer Chicken stand.” Is this a chain restaurant common to the Los Angeles area? Are there any still around?
According to this thread, there are still a couple of Pioneer Chickens left, including one in Echo Park, but there’s no longer one on Alvarado street.
