Casting for The Office [ed. title, take 2]

Emphasis added by me. So… we have no idea what they may or may not do with Spader. So what, precisely, is being spoiled?

“Spader is joining the cast” is a far cry from “Jim dies in a car wreck in the second episode.” The latter is a spoiler – it alters (and almost certainly for the worse, i.e., “spoils”) how you view the first and second episodes. The former doesn’t change anything, because there’s essentially no reliable information there (as you noted in your post).

What if I were to say, "Robert Duvall may or may not join the cast of The Office. Spoiler?

Well, I already explained this in my post, in between the points you’ve emphasized. Right now, no, it’s not really spoiling anything. But lets say he’s not joining at the start of the season, he’s coming in at the third episode. And the first two episodes imply that Kathy is sticking around. And maybe it’s really a big surprise when she leaves and Spader joins the cast. For everyone who read this topic, watching those first two episodes, that surprise is ruined.

Like I said, it’s better safe than sorry.

Can we change this thread’s title again just for funsies?

Stoid, I didn’t mean to pick on YOU. I don’t know if you’ve seen other threads about The Office that had similar arguments to the one we’re having right now. The point I was trying to make was against those who say they AREN’T spoilers. I’m sure YOU would have changed the thread title if you knew it would upset people…

That’s all I’m saying. I love spoilers about the show. I just make sure, (due to other problems we’ve had in the past), to always be on the cautious side when I hear news about it.

Nope, I still think it’s relevant.

Nope, never noticed; hardly ever took part in Office threads except the one about the last episode, in which I expressed my fervent hope that Spader would be back.

I think I’ve watched that clip a dozen times, and every time kills me. SCATHINGLY brilliant.

I’d also like to note that the performances of the others were perfection in response, flawless.

By the way, having just watched it AGAIN… can anyone describe the interesting way that Spader speaks, in terms of NOT speaking “crisply”…his consonants are very…rounded, smooth…it’s like they are buffered somehow. Is there some way of describing that in the world of speech?

I think I’ll ask in GQ…

I hope Andy get’s the job of Manager, but a lot of people want Darryl which would take some getting use to for me.

But;

They have hinted that ‘the boss’ might not be the main focus of the show anymore. I heard this a while ago, so I’m not sure they’re still thinking that… the best I can site is what B.J. Novak told ‘The Hollywood Reporter’

It can be found here, It’s a Spoiler site!
