Casual Friday tomorrow- what do you wear?

Every day is casual day at my job. Today I wore cargo pants, a bright pink T-shirt and sneakers. Most days I wear jeans. Occasionally I wear my hair in pigtails. Getting to dress down every day is one of the perks of my job.

We have no real dress code any day of the week, it’s just understood you won’t come in looking like a scruff. On Fridays a little bit more scruffiness might be ok, though.

Every day is Casual Friday where I work! In fact I’d look weird if I wore anything formal.

Even better is the skimpy stuff the female sector of the staff wears. I likes my job, I does.

Also work at a place where it is always casual.

I never wear shorts. Mostly khakis or other pants rather than jeans, though I will wear jeans on occation. On rare occations a dress (usually when I have a hot date with my husband). Golf (polo) shirts or camp shirts or sweaters. Occationally a tank top with a sweater over the top - but if I wear something sleeveless, I always throw a sweater or jacket over it.

Since today is Saturday, I’ll mention that yesterday I wore a jean skirt and sleeveless blouse to work. The dress code at this company (for every day) is “business casual” – meaning that while no one is allowed to wear shorts, jeans, T-shirts or sweatshirts/sweatpants, you don’t have to get all suited up either. Acceptable attire for men: Dockers or khaki pants with dress shirts (long or short sleeves depending on season) or polo shirts in good condition for summer, sweaters (in winter), but it’s OK to skip the jacket and tie (which all of the men do, short of bigwigs on days they have meetings).

Women can wear pretty much anything (short of T-shirts, jeans and sweats), but no one said to me yesterday “that’s not appropriate to wear to work” about the jean SKIRT I had on – it was the first time I’d worn it to work at this company – go figure! Jeans not allowed, but jean SKIRTS are OK? And this wouldn’t be the first company I worked for which had this womens’ dress policy! Summer, as it is now, I mostly wear skirts and light blouses or a dress (slacks on rainy days), but when it’s cold out I always wear slacks and blouses or heavy sweaters. There’s one woman there who wears skirts and blouses Mon-Thurs, summer AND winter, rain or shine, but her idea of “dress-down Friday” (even though we technically don’t have one since every day is considered “casual dress” by the company) is to wear slacks instead of a skirt.
