Many years ago I was riding my bike down a sidewalk and was stopped by this old lady who was crying and asked if I would help get her cat out of a tree. There was another woman with her and they were pointing at this tall tree in the yard. At first I thought they were mistaken because I couldn’t see any cat in the tree, then I spotted him wayyyy up at the top. I took off my jacket and told them to stretch it out and hold it under the tree in case he jumped or fell while I was trying to get hold of him. That tree was really high and the branches got thinner as I got near the top. I began to worry how I would be able to hold onto him while climbing back down. As soon as I got to where he was I reached out with one hand and he lunged at me and sunk all of his front claws into my shoulder. I no longer had to worry about holding him because he was holding me and he wasn’t about to let go. When I got down it took the three of us to pry his claws out of my shoulder and the old lady thanked me and carried him into her house. The claw wounds didn’t bleed too much and the scars went away by the end of the year.
LOL.
Two observations: 1) No good deed goes unpunished and 2) don’t worry so much about cats stuck in trees - when’s the last time you saw a cat skeleton on a branch?
So you didn’t even get any cool scars for it?
Nope, I didn’t really need anymore scars, I have enough already.
No scars? I still have 3 scars on the inside of my upper left arm that I got when I was carrying my own cat out of a room and we walked past a vacuum cleaner. The vaccum was not on but the cat knew it was an evil monster and not to trust it and he freaked out and dug his back claws into my arm. This happened over 20 years ago. I call them my Clan of the House Cat marks.
It’s lucky you didn’t have to rescue a cabinetry.
When I was a kid, we had a cat that would get stuck way up in a tree all the time. My brother, my uncle, who lived with us, and I would take a beachball and throw it at him until he fell out. That cat ran away- I never did figure out why.
I dunno - beachball allergy?
