Cat ladies?!?

I was just listening to some Pickup101 thing about picking up chicks and the guy says “…you don’t know if she owns a cat. Trust me, if you find that out you’ll want to run, quickly.” WHAT DOES HE MEAN?

I mean what’s so bad about female cat owners?

“Crazy cat lady”… you know, when they are sixty and they have 90 cats living with them in a one-room bungalow and she hisses at you to “git off my lawn”. First they get a kitten, just one, then they start calling it their “fur baby”… so it begins…

Well, we need to feed our cats something…the other other white meat is suprisingly acceptable.

But this pickup guy was talking about beautiful girls… who happen to own a cat. Maybe they’re mini-crazy cat ladies? Fur baby

Girl From Mars: That would explain it…

Maybe he was insinuating some insidious relationship between having a cat and wanting a baby.

Well, I own three cats, but I like to think I’m more of a cat girl than a cat lady.

Yeah, I think it’s mostly the “crazy cat lady” stereotype. You don’t hear nearly so often about “crazy dog guys” (or even “crazy dog ladies” for that matter) as you do about mentally unbalanced women hoarding a bunch of cats.

Personally, I own two cats due to living in an apartment, but would actually prefer to have a dog and definitely don’t think of my cats as my “kids”, so I’m not sure where I fit in.

There seems to be this pop culture idea that single gals with a cat (or cats) are picky and high maintenance whereas a gal with a dog is seen as easy going and low maintenance. I think it’s silly but I know single guys who think it’s gospel.

I have five cats and any guy who thinks he should run away from that, man, don’t let the pet door hit you in the ass on the way out. I love this advice when it appears on dating tips for men. Please, yes, do self-eliminate and don’t make that girl misterable.

Gonna have 6 cats soon because I’m getting married… and my boyfriend has a bratty cat of his own. So there, bullshit dating tips!

I think whats going on here is the notion that a single women with a cat or multiple cats is someone with comittment on the mind.
I don’t agree, as I am a a male in a serious relationship who has lived with women with cats all his life.
A women with cats usually is a nurturer who is seeking to find a mate, not get busy between the sheets and make a stink. You know what I am saying…?

Sorry guys, I have been away awhile.
EDITING? How cool!
Anyway, my point is this: a lady with cats is often a sign of a caring nurturer. That kind of lady is not necessarily a hit it and quit it type.

I’ve missed the Dope sooo much…

Do you dress like you design usernames?

I wonder what they say about gals who have both cats and dogs?

I am, to the core, a cat person though.

That depends, are they little dogs or big dogs? If you have little dogs, you’re basically a cat person who has dogs. If you have big dogs, you’re dog person who somehow wound up with a cat. A medium dog would depend on the essential dogginess of the dog. Cocker spaniel would probably be a cat dog but a bull terrier would be a dog dog.

The universal question
How many cats is the tipping point from cat lover to crazy cat collector?

Save your drama for the Pit.
Do you disagree with my opinion?
What happened to fighting ignorance?

I have a cat and I love him as if he were my baby. I don’t ever want to have kids, I prefer to love on my cat. I think the cat lady stereotype is ridiculous…I am an excellent cook, an exhibitionist, and a gamer in addition to being a cat person. If you would rather run because I love my cat than spend your time eating my fabulous waffles and having a Soul Caliber II smackdown before some crazy sex that is totally your choice.

Here, Kitty, Kitty…
