I’ve had to clear up 4 pile of cat poop in the last week. Why cats have suddenly taken to pooping in our garden I have no idea, we never had a problem before. Their favoured spots are in the gravel patch or in the plant pot. You can smell it before you see it, eurgh! We were thinking of getting one of those animal deterrent things, but do they actually work? Any ideas on how to prevent the local cat/cats using our garden as a toilet gratefully received!
The effective way is to provide a better spot elsewhere.
Clear another spot nearby, make sure that the soil is nicely loosened, or mix in some sand, and leave that open for them. And at the same time, make the other spots they have been using less attractive – fence them off, put stinky mothballs in them, spray with citrus smell, cover the ground with a tarp or wire screen (;hardware cloth’), etc. Those can probably be temporary measures, just until they get used to the new spot.
