Catherine O'Hara Is Dead

I will submit Away We Go (2009) - IMDb for your…approval.

RIP Cookie, we won’t forget the best.

Robin Duke and Tony Rosato along with Martin Short are the only SNL alumni to make the leap to the regular cast of SNL, so plenty of Americans old enough are familiar with them even if they never saw the SCTV episodes they were in.

Typo for “Robin Duke and Tony Rosato along with Martin Short are the only SCTV alumni to make the leap to the regular cast of SNL”?

(Bolding added)

She was in just so many things I forgot about and rewatching a bit today in sorrow, I just want to point out I don’t think she ever phoned anything in. Not everything is FULL VOLUME WEIRDO, but there’s never a sense she was just reading lines for money.

And most Americans first saw Ed Grimley on SNL after Short had pioneered the character on SCTV.

Thanks!

At least he saw it coming:

It took that long, until post 40, to mention the iconic Home Alone series. That’s how good a career she had.

She started out at Second City in Toronto… as a waitress.

She was only 20, which is extremely young for a cast member. My sister and brother in law have both performed for Second City, and my BIL has directed some shows there, and it’s not easy to get in.

I alluded to them in post 30, but my favorite O’Hara roles were the ones in the Christopher Guest mockumentaries which have barely been mentioned.

No cause of death revealed yet, but it was let known that she had a rare condition in which all of her internal organs were on the opposite side of the body (heart on right, liver on left, etc). Nothing to do with her death, but I found it interesting. Seems to me to make more sense if the side of development was random and that half of us would have reversed organs.

Same for Mrs. Cretin and me.

Wait till you hear about the guy who was born with two left feet…

You can still be a winning dog handler!

Kudos to the Westminster Dog Show for their classy tribute (aired during the terrier category of course IYKYK).

Possibly her most virtuosic performance of all time:

Who’s the guy? They were both great!

Dave Thomas

Love his burgers.

O’Hara’s cause of death was revealed.

Pulmonary embolism and rectal cancer.
