Where did the Catholic interpretation of communion literally being the
body and blood of Christ come from? The Bible’s description of the
Last Supper seems pretty clear that Jesus was speaking methaphorically
when he passed around the bread and wine, so when did the belief of
literal transubstantiaon come from?
