Are you talking about The Vault or Spank?
This is all a plot to destroy whatever influence the Catholic church still has.
I hope it works.
“quite the cluck” is sort of hybrid British/American lingo… British English often uses the phrase “quite the…” “Quite the little bigot,” “quite the fool,” etc. A Brit might say, “Quite the charlie.” (That may be terribly dated today…)
“Cluck” seems to be American slang for “foolish person.”
Cross-Atlantic hybrid portmanteaus can be fun. The priest is “Getting on for dorky.”
I don’t know either of these… But I do know a bunch of people who engage in “master/slave” relationships that are a bit more serious than ordinary role-playing.
So long as it’s wholly voluntary, then…eh. Not my cuppa, but I won’t go out of my way to interfere with their jollies.
(I’m a “Furry,” and thus live in a glass house!)
If gay men are allowed to participate fully in normal life, where is the next generation of priests coming from?
Clown college dropouts?
If it is, this is the first I’ve heard of it.
As if getting raped by a priest wasn’t bad enough.
Gosharooty! Like “twerp” and “drip,” “cluck” isn’t much used these days…
I use it. Often with “clueless.” “My god, I just stood there like a clueless cluck…”
The Sunday Funnies in my local paper once included a Bugs Bunny strip (it was an economically underprivileged local paper, and could not afford Disney-based strips, such as Donald Duck and Scamp; they had to make do with Warner Bros.-based strips). In these strips Bugs was far more likely to call Elmer (or Daffy or Sylvester) a “cluck” than a “maroon,” which it appears he reserved for his film work.
Not Kirk.
Roddy
People who get confused by bananas shouldn’t have a say in society.
I’m not sure this is even contrary to the Church’s intentions. The Church has had a “vocation crisis” for at least 20 years now. Priests often have to take “riding pastorships” where they say Mass at three or four different parishes on Sunday. I think they understand that the days when there were at least two priests per parish, and two Masses a day with six on Sunday (including the Saturday 5:00) are not coming back, and they’re reducing the flock to fit the clergy.
What are these plans he’s talking about? Is a Conservative government actually proposing legislation allowing gay marriage? 'Cause that would be super.
It is. Cameron is very onboard with the idea. Consultation period about to start.
The proposed changes are to civil marraige. No one is proposing forcing change to the religious side of things.
Since the C of E is an arm of the government, wouldn’t marriage-rights legislation force it (though obviously not other sects) to perform same sex marriages?
No.
I think you missed the part where all of the arguments against it fall into those categories…
Thanks, I suppose. ![]()
