I disagree. When one chooses to believe the worst of a group of other people in order to assuage one’s own ego, justify cruelties or opression or exploitation, or take wicked selfish pride, that is definitely hatred. “Bigotry,” in the original sense of the word, simply means stubborn narrowmindedness. As in this classic from Ambrose Bierce’ The Devil’s Dictionary:

ABSTAINER, n.
A weak person who yields to the temptation of denying himself a pleasure. A total abstainer is one who abstains from everything but abstention, and especially from inactivity in the affairs of others.
