Ok folks here is a really odd question for you. If anyone can answer it I will be astounded as even a vet couldn’t tell me. After my husband and I have been out nightclubbing after we would get into bed our cat would systematically attack my bras and chew them to death. Why is this???
Does it have anything to do with the things we do when we are out or is it just one nutty cat???
Maybe something the cat smells in the bras from the nightclub? Of course, there’s one problem and that’s that the rest of your clothes * should * smell just like the bras, or even more like whatever the cat would smell from the nightclub because the outer clothing would be more exposed. Or so I’m assuming.
I’m just gonna go with option b and say you have anutty cat.
Are you sure you’re not, ummm, leaking maybe a little? It could be that the cat smells something with lactose in the bra. Barring that, I’d assume that the combination of the bra probably having the strongest smell of yourself on it (it is, after all, snugly stretched across your skin) combined with the material it’s made of sends your cat into it’s killing frenzy.
rofl well thanks for that but there is one thing that I have neglected to mention and do not want to get into trouble for saying too much…lets just say she only does it when i am doing something that I shouldn’t. When I am straight she doesn’t do it but when I am bent she goes psychotic!!! The vet thought it was hillariously funny my husband thinks it is the most amusing thing but me I’m not too impressed as she is ruining my bras…putting them out of the road doesn’t help she literally hunts them down ACK!!!
IIRC (a well-spend youth, thank you very much!), dope and catnip are closely related - maybe have enough catnip toys around so she can be stoned without assistence from underwear?
This StraightDope Column says catnip (Nepeta cataria) is in the mint family. Doesn’t sound like it should be very closely related to weed, if that’s what we’re talking about.
When you are doing whatever it is you are not supposed to be doing, don’t wear a bra.
Something I’ve observed with my cats is that they are particularly fond of human clothing. I’m fairly certain they find the scent of the people around them who feed and play with them to be a comforting smell and so like playing with material rife with it.
The bra thing might be attributed to the fact that the cat smells your scent on the bra and is going stir crazy on it. I’ve noticed my cats jumping in my hamper and playing with my underwear/socks. They also like blankets and shoes, which reinforces my scent theory.
Maybe when you’re ‘bent’, you pay less attention to the cat and it acts out in a “Look at me! I’m cute and want to be the center of attention!” kind of way.
OK just to clarify for you all…It was not pot it was LSD. It is the only time she does it…its not like I can rock up to the vet and say “excuse me Sir but have you ever seen a cat on LSD do you know how it reacts”?? LOL I would get my arse kicked from here to eternity
