Cats, litterbox and peeing question

For years we had a covered litter box. The pan was ths same height front and back, so when one of our two big Bengal cats (Zubin and Mehta) peed against the back, it often leaked out.

Then I got what is apparently quite common now, a box with a higher back. This solved the problem of Cat One. Unfortunately, big Cat Two always went straight in and did his business against the front. For a long time this was still OK, but recently he has been squirting right out the front opening.

I have a big mat, but still it is a horrible mess to pick it up, empty out the urine and wash the mat and floor. Fortunately he does not do this every time, but often once a day.

As they are both almost 16 years old, I suppose they are getting a bit senile, as am I, but it seemed to me the thing to do was get a box which was higher all around.

Searching everywhere on the Internet, I realized almost all now seem to have a high back and a low front. Reading reviews, I see this is not an uncommon problem, especially for those who have Maine Coon cats.

So, has anybody found a good covered litter box with the front at least 10-12 inches high?

Sorry, no picture, as I never could get a shot of Mehta peeing out the front. I expect that would be quite a sight.

This post was begun in another thread, presumably mistakenly or as a result of board wonkiness. At any rate, here it is, in its brand-new, own thread.

Thanks, Ellen, I am mystified as to how that might have occurred. Stuff happens.

I have a cat who pees up, up, up the side of the box and over the side. I use a huge rubbermaid tub in the bathtub for ease of cleaning, so I have to use regular clay litter since the clumping kind would clog the pipes.

Now they havethese boxes, which are basically a Rubbermaid storage tub with a hole in the lid. Simple and cats don’t have trouble going into hidey-holes.
