This has been bugging me for years, and I am hoping I have finally found a place where someone will know the answer to my question!
What is the story with the light-duty pickup trucks I see driving around town with bright yellow letters reading “Caution - Stay Back” and a round red light right in the middle of the tailgate? I always imagine they are delivery trucks for some toxic chemical supplier or something, but I’m hoping someone out there knows the real story. Thanks in advance!
My best wild guesses (guessi?!): I have seen city workers (guys who pick up traffic cones, fix signs, pick up road kill, etc) have small trucks with similar signs on the back. However, thier trucks usually say something like “Caution-Stay Back, Makes Sudden and Frequent Stops” or something like that in black and yellow lettering. They also might have some kinda lightbar or other lights attached. I have also seen similar signs on delivery trucks that carry gravel or other material that might fly out and break a windshield. However their signs usually say “caution-stay back will not be responsible for broken windshields.”
