OK…no more cheap shots from me at Bill Gates.
The founder & CEO of Microsoft just gave $258 million to malaria research.

I don’t imagine that’s pocket change, even to one of the richest men in the world. Good for him.
Yay! I still remember getting malaria at age 15 in India, coming back, and not one single (white) doctor able to diagnose it in the US. It’s still really prevalent in other countries, people!
This is great. I heard when he added $50 million it doubled research. This is an evil system we have where billions are spent on 8th treatments for baldness while malaria is ignored.
Yeah, Bill’s a good guy. I may never use his org’s operating system, but this kinda makes me want to buy an upgrade to my copy of Excel or something.
MMV sounds like a good charity, I gave some money to them. I have been looking for a charity that specializes in medicines for malaria.
I need to learn how to independently fundraise for charities like that. That’ll be a good use of my time.
Bill donates a surprising amount of money to charities. He really does use his wealth to improve other people’s lives…
In interviews, Gates has said that he subscribes to Carnegie’s theory.
In a nutshell from how I remember Bill Gates explaining it. You spend the first X number of years accumulating wealth and then spend the rest of your life helping out worthy causes with philanthropy.
The link was the first hit I found on Google. It looks like a good explanation on what Carnegie did.
