I will tell you, though, that Cecil doesn’t much care for posting on the message board. He does it more or less out of a sense of duty.
One of the BEST things about being a board staff member, on the other hand, is finding a spammer who is in mid-spam, and banning that poster before s/he hits more than a couple of forums. I positively cackle with glee, imagining the frustration on the other end. Now, if only they’d approve my plans for the Cyber Zap, I’d be much happier.

Intelligent people let loose sometimes. Childishness is not always bad thing. We like to have fun. If you wanted dead serious answers, there’s the General Questions forum. Here in MPSIMS, we tend to be silly. Letting off some steam, having a laugh. Not always, no, but often, especially when the OP isn’t about life or death.

To Doopliss: Although the moderators and staff members of this Board invariably deny it, the most authoritative information we have as to the real identity of Cecil Adams is a Wall Street Journal article from some years back which stated that Ed Zotti, whom Cecil describes as his long-time “editor”, actually writes the columns and has been doing so since 1978. Before that two other individuals held the role. The claim about the “world’s smartest human” (or however they phrase it) is just for fun; while the author (whoever he, she, or they may be) is obviously above average in intelligence, nobody is making a serious claim about IQ tests. We leave that gig to Marilyn vos Savant.

Well,sadly, Doopliss, since your post was moved, it was deemed by someone higher than ourselves (this boot is clean, I want another boot to lick) “Mundane” and also “Pointless”, and was moved to our happy-go-lucky twee fun forum, MPSIMS. The responses you received here in this thread are typical of this zone. Welcome to Oz.
It will help on these boards to keep a sense of humour (even if it’s Sense of Humour Lite), flow with it, and if you have a problem with where your OP landed, e-mail a mod about it, or even go so far as to open a Pit thread, like so many do, titled “Mods! How dare ye move my thread of utmost importance into that… that… ::shudder:: MPSIMS! They’re all childish and grimy in there! Ewww!” Granted, you won’t be able to fit that all into the thread title, but most of us manage to cram what we need to in there.
Seriously, I’ll forgive you the “high horse” attitude for this one, since you’re new here. We all misunderstand, make mistakes, get our question that the answer to would make us the very apogee of knowledge and wisdom moved into what we might consider an inappropriate forum. It happens. Turn on those dull beams of Sense of Humour Lite and you will get by just fine. We don’t bite, unless you force us to by eliminating all other reasonable circumstances. Try to be reasonable. Some of us have rabies. (Try to guess which one! I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised!)

As someone with more than 5,000 posts I resent the assumption that this is a “spam forum.”
I prefer to think of it as a glurge forum.
I can imagine Doopliss sitting back there now enjoying the fruits of his whooshing. This fellow is one smart dude, certainly of way above average intelligence. Plotting his moves many steps in advance, seeing those who *think * they are smart writing/editing/rewriting their posts, turning their best phrases, but all for naught, as their best efforts fall to earth like Michael Moore’s stand-up routine.
