Wait, that suggests Cecil would be able to tell if taking LSD shows up in an X-ray of the jawline. The only way he could verify is taking an x-ray of someone who has taken LSD.
Oh, I suppose he could be not offering to serve as the control, but that’s not the way that sentence reads.
You misunderstood the supreme master. It wasn’t that Cecil had already taken LDS, but that he was willing to take LSD just to test this theory and to enlighten us of the results. The issue is that Cecil would have had to take two x-ray pictures of his jaw – one before and one after. And that was just one x-ray too many.
It is Cecil’s willingness to use of his own body for the advancement of our knowledge that makes him so beloved. Just look at his column on hangover cures. It was one of his longest. This shows you that Cecil spent a lot of time personally testing each and every one.
Oh, so he’s willing to offer up his body to science by ingesting LSD, but not willing to offer his body up to science and get an Xray or two.
There’s no reason the X-rays had to be in the same day, or even same week. A pre-LSD screening, some intervening time, and a post LSD screening. Sure, technically the science is a little weaker as one could always assert any difference came from some other undocumented change rather than the LSD, but that’s a minor weakness.
It is important not to confuse LDS and LSD. One is all about strange irrational beliefs, weird visions that nobody else can see, and talking to angels; the other is a hallucinogenic drug.
