Cecil stoped UFO "flaps"?!?!

I’m reading sections of “Watch the Skies! A Chronicle of the Flying Saucer Myth” by Curtis Peebles for a History class. In the final section, Peebles writes that massive UFO sightings and hysteria tended to follow public strife (say, the Cuban Missle Crisis) and presidential elections, before asking on page 287:

“Why have there been no more UFO flaps since 1973? Certainly there have been ill-defined crisies since then…”

To which I answer - Cecil! Didn’t “The Straight Dope” begin publication in 1973?!?! Is it not the mission of this column to “fight ignorance?!?!” Coincidence?!? I think not! The way I see it, Unca Cecil has done his part to keep people from believing stupid stuff like little green (or grey) men are coming to take us away (ha ho, hee hee!) and probe our anal areas!

There is a theory that Cecil is a Gray, and is helping “them” sneak into our society.
This is of course foolish, because if “they” were really in control, users would be stopped before they could post such nons
