Celebrities with REAL (Not Honorary) Doctorates

Not quite. It was a paper on the Alcubierre drive, titled “The View from the Bridge”. “From the bridge” was used to mean “from the center of the warp bubble”, even though (citation) it could be argued that the bubble would be centered on the engineering section of the ship, not from the bridge. The citation given was to “M. Scott, private communication”.

His fellow SkyRider, Frederick LaBour (“Too Slim”), was the genesis of the “Paul Is Dead” phenomenon in the late 60’s.
Trivial footnote to emphasize the wonderfulness of the Riders.

True. And Ranger Doug Green is the Historian for the Country Music Association.

And I took this username years ago in homage to Ranger Doug.

RivkahChaya, the terms “neuroscience” and “neurobiology” are interchangeable:

Shaq’s got an EdD, not a PhD FWIW. Still, good for him, but that Time blurb is off (even in the pic he’s holding a light-blue hood)

I remember reading that some students do expect an easy class from Professor “Robocop” but they get a rude awakening when they see how strict and knowledgeable he is.

As I said before, those students expect Robocop when they actually get Buckaroo Banzai!

I said doctorate, not PhD. There are a bunch of other doctorate degrees besides a PhD. An EdD focuses more on knowledge and practice rather than research which is very appropriate for some types of professionals like him.

Shaq has always been focused on education. He went back and finished his LSU degree well after he was a multi-millionaire and an NBA superstar. Barry University may not be the most prestigious school in the world but it is a real university fully accredited to award such degrees. I say good for him and he is an admirable role model for lots of people.
