Amanda Peet
I have no “gaydar” with celebrities who are acting (if they’re any good), but if Cesar Millam isn’t straight, I’d be extremely surprised, esp. since he’s not an actor in the first place.
:dubious: Mandy has always read as straight to me.
Andrew has been a friend of mind since I worked with him back in the early 90s. My initial assumption was that he was gay, and when he told me he went to Vassar, I thought yeah, for sure. I was wrong though. I’ve been out with him socially many times and he is most definately straight.
Lawrence Llewelyn-Bowen, for sure. There was an episode of Changing Rooms about making over the designer’s own rooms, and from that I learned that, confusingly enough, Mister Floppy-Sleeve Fluffy-Hair is married to a quite nice lady.
John Lithgow, married 28 years.
I’ve always wondered about Duff Goldman, of Ace Of Cakes fame. Any thoughts?
They showed his girlfriend on his “Chefography” episode.
Oh. Well, hell. I missed that one.
If it’s ever verified that Oprah and Gail are just friends my jaw will hit the floor below the one I am currently standing on.
The first time I saw that show, it was while flipping through channels, and my hindbrain said “Hey, what’s Neil Gaiman doing house rehab for?” Turned back and found some other “British – not that there’s anything wrong with that” guy instead.
But since I never thought Neil Gaiman was gay, it never occurred to me this guy would have been. Just… British, you know.
That’s who I came here to mention! My husband and I were totally convinced that he was… then I saw the story on Yahoo that he was dating Nastia… wow. Either he’s really metro or she’s his beard…
I’d always assumed that Hugh Jackman is as gay as a sunny day in April.

Has anyone mentioned Richard Carpenter? Even though he’s married with five kids, I still don’t believe it.
I’m very often wrong about these things. Over the years I have been surprised to learn that the following people are (or appear to be) straight:
Paul Shaffer
Matthew Broderick
Matt Damon
Rod Stewart
Sarah Silverman
Hilary Swank
At least I knew Elton John was gay even when he married a woman.
How is the writer of “It’s raining men” straight?
I don’t believe that.
Straight guy Shaffer wrote the music, gay guy Paul Jabara wrote the lyrics.
I dunno if he’s gay – article says he’s got four kids – but what a soulless shlub! How could anybody pass up the chance to move into a house named “Drumthwacket”?!
Christopher Lowell, the interior decorator. I knew his behavior was an affectation, but I thought he was really gay. Turns out he’s just a straight man trying to be famous by exploiting flamboyant mannerisms.

Is it wrong for a straight man to play up the gay stereotypes and to parody an effeminate character, just to make a name for himself?
No more so than Rock Hudson making a career out of being a romantic leading ladies’ man.
