I remember reading somewhere (no cite, so trust it as far as you feel comfortable doing so) that freezing to death is supposed to be a quite comfortable way to die.
That said, I’m more comfortable being Aron Ralston in that comparison. He only lost a hand.
The actual dying part is not so bad (or so I’ve also heard (falling asleep, they say)), but the being cold long enough to actually freeze to death bit in before that point is awful (I’ve been very cold (shivering to the point I couldn’t write) and it sucks).
I once asked an ME the most painful and least painful ways to die. Most painful is being burned alive. Most people who die in fires die of smoke inhalation, which is less painful.
The least painful (and this is for information purposes only) is to get drunk and then freeze to death. Rip roaring, blotto drunk.

I would think overdosing on opiates would be an easier way to go. People are taking those drugs without any intent to die because they feel good. So taking enough extra to kill yourself shouldn’t be any worse.
