Agreed, great coach and great guy. My earliest memories watching pro football were in the late 1970s and early 80s (really after 1980-81). Shula was just such a classy guy. A calm demeanor that masked his intensity.
What’s amazing about Shula was how he was able to change with the times. He didn’t try to force players to fit into a system; he adapted his system to fit the strengths of his players. No better example of this than when he switched from a power running game to a pass-happy offense when Marino took over in 1984.
