Celebrity Life Pool - willing to host if there is interest and help

I’m willing to host a Life Pool, but want to know if there is interest and if someone like @Baker can show me how to manage the spreadsheet and so forth.

Any interest? Any easy way to setup a spreadsheet for point calculation?

My plan would be:

  • only people 80 and over
  • 1 point for every year older than 80. 81 gets you 1 point, 105 gets you 15 points.

No points in this game are really calculated until year end.

Thoughts? Any help on the scoring? It might not be too bad since scores aren’t live like Deaths.

Life is only calculated 1 year later.

My only thought is that there would be a whole lot of duplication of entries.

I’d be willing to participate, though.

Actually, you could calculate everybody’s possible end-of-year points at the beginning of the year, and then subtract points as each celebrity passes. If I have 10 celebrities who will all be 95 at year-end, each of them would potentially be worth 15 points at the end of the year, and I would have 150 possible points. When one of my entries dies, I would then have 135 possible points.

As far as creating an easy-to-use spreadsheet, that’s beyond my abilities.

What’s the limit on the list? Ten people? Thirteen like in the other threads? Or something else?

My strategy is to choose some of the same people I have on my Death Pool lists. This way, I’m guaranteed at least some points somewhere.

Let’s make the following rules established.

  • Lists of 13 names total (this allows people to re-use their death pool list if they like)
  • 1 point for every year older than 80. 105 DOES get you 25 points, for example.
  • If you would be so kind, perhaps even calculate the total points you have available if your candidates survive the year

I’ll do the scoring unless we get a huge amount of people. Then, I might crowd-source it.

With this being the first year, i figured I’d go with an extreme strategy and see how it goes. One 107-year-old alive at the end of the year beats 13 82-year-olds
