Celebrity Poker Showdown - The Final Table

Don’t have a lot to say right now other than to see if there’s discussion to get going, so I’ll just say two things:

If that nasty man had rubbed his nipple one more time I was going to hurl.

Nicole Sullivan ought to be arrested because drawing that straight to beat Rudd’s trip sixes was the greatest robbery since Brinks.

I can’t decide whether Nicole Sullivan is incredibly lucky or just a really good poker player. I watched the show last night and kept waffling between the two options.

Either way, she definitely lucked out on the hand that knocked Rudd out of the game.

Well, from what I can tell from my drive-bys on Google Groups, the folks who post to rec.gambling poker seem to think that she was one of the better players, from what they saw on the show. From their general POV, it seems, except for that one hand, her assessments of her opponents were accurate and her strategy sound. Of course, that may be more of an indictment of her opponents, but they seem to think she did a lot of things right.

It’s also noted that despite the commentary at the time, her luck on that one hand is nothing compared to the luck others have had every day with even MORE lopsided odds.

Still, even if she was lucky in general, it seems that her play has met with some approval. Perhaps Sam Stone would be able to give his impressions, though being a relative expert, I dunno if he could have beared to watch this group of amateurs…

She played ok though she would have gotten crushed by a decent player. Her biggest strength was her bet sizing. She had many opportunities to steal blinds and bully pots that she didn’t take. They all played a short-handed game like it was a full table. Strategy for heads-up Hold 'em (one on one) is vastly different then a 8-10 person game. The play of the night was David Cross’s sandbagging her with that check-raise when he flopped a flush.
