I used to do a kickass Cartman, but I seem to have lost the ability. My Marge Simpson is pretty good, but my Jessica Rabbit is damn near perfect.
Draelin, I would love to hear your Jessica Rabbit.
I like to think I can do Bullwinkle, Ernie, and Kermit, but they’re really all the same voice.
I can do Marvin the Martian. Isn’t that lovely? I can also do a fairly decent Patty and/or Selma from the Simpsons.
This is one of my major hobbies - I’d like to think I do a great number of voices and accents very very well.
Perhaps my favorite, and currently best - Wallace Shawn from the Princess Bride.
I can pretty much do all the ones mentioned above. With very little practice, I can mimic almost anything I hear, whether it be a voice or just a sound. I can also sing very well if I’m imitating a singer, but can’t sing a note of my own. As superpowers go, I think I got the short end of the stick.
The only celebrity I’ve never been able to do is Robert Stack. I don’t know what it is about his voice but I just can’t get it. Kinda pisses me off.
That would be a good one.
[Robert Stack]Full cavity searches. Deep, and hard.[/RS]
A little off-topic, but I can do a freaking magnificent a capella version of John Cage’s 4’33". I can even accompany myself on the piano.
Try me sometime, Eve, I’d love to critique you.
In exchange, I’ll do Jimmy Stewart, Edward G. Robinson, H.V. Kaltenborn, Chevalier, Crosby, Carmen Lombardo and FDR.
I can do speaking and singing Kermit and most Henson voices almost as well as Steve Whitmire does them. A lot of Frank Oz voices are easy, too, though I’ve lost my ability to imitate Bert. Recently I’ve done a passable Big Bird and Oscar.
I have never been able to master any of the Mel Blanc voices, exthept for Thyvesthter. . .
With a five year old daughter in the house, I’m now performing a lot of Shrek and Donkey. (My daughter does a GREAT SpongeBob, considering she’s five. I do Squidward, Patrick and Mr. Krabbs.)
I worked at a magazine once with a guy who did a good Jimmy Stewart. When we were bored (which was frequently), we’d do our version of Green Acres, starring Jimmy Stewart and Greta Garbo.
“Oliver . . . dee peeg . . . eet depresses me . . .”
I used to do a pretty good George Takei (Mr. Sulu). (“NINE POINT TWO…NINE POINT THREE!”)
(oh, and I’m performing 4’33" right now!)
My kids protest when I do my Brando, Jimmy Stewart, Cary Grant, JFK, James Mason, Peter Lorre, Jack Nicholson, etc. impressions, but I think they’re (very) secretly impressed. Oddly, I do a facial contortion for each one that tips them off as to which one’s coming. I don’t even have to do the Brando sometimes–they can tell what’s coming (often what line I’m about to do ) by the half-lidded eyes alone.
My speaking voice is not at all Australian (though I can do that, and sometimes have done for survival in country town pubs), but I get mistaken for a native of various parts of the British Isles usually. Sometimes NZ. I can do a passable Irish accent (to all but the Irish), but I have been told by a native speaker that my Glaswegian is A1.
Gie’s yer jaiket!
When I read The Simpsons comics to my daughter I’m told (by my wife and daughter) that I do pretty good Mr. Burns, Marge, and Krusty. I can also do a Marvin the Martian.
Pepper Mikll does a killer Yogi Bear. And Wicked Witch of the West.
I have a perfect Elmo (Ha-ha-ha-hee-hee!) and when I’m congested I can do a passable Barney the dinosaur. I’m a hit with the kids.
I can do many voices, I’m however, particularly impressed by how spot-on my Alan Rickman voice is. My friends say it’s spooky when I quote “Die Hard” or “Quigley” lines.
I also, can do a perfect Billy Connolly, which carries over into Shrek.
I can do both Huntz Hall and Leo Gorsey.
many cartoon voices.
I’m told my Sean Connery impression (recent Connery, not Bond-era) is shpot-on. I can also do a fair impression of Billy Crystal as Miracle Max–I recently did a LARP role as a character that I played as a blend of Miracle Max and Londo Mollari, to the satisfying amusement of the PCs.
I also tend to pick up accents very quickly, and I’ve acquired a fair number over the years. It sometimes takes me a moment to slip back into one I haven’t done lately, but if I’m listening to someone speak, I often find myself falling into their accent and cadence.
I try not to do it too often anymore … the men around me at the time usually have to leave the room.
I can to a good Starscream/Cobra Commander.
Good enough to freak out any child of the 80’s.
