Cell Battery Charging

Over the past few weeks both my husband and I have noticed that our cell batteries seem to fade quicker than they used to. Not surprising, since the phones are probably about a year and a half old.

I was surfing eBay for a battery for my Nokia 3220 and don’tcha know it, apparently they are on the edge of obsolete. I saw some of the BL5B batteries with a “buy it now” option @ only $.99. All told, would cost about 9 bux.

I noticed in the vendor’s description that he said batteries needed to be charged for 12 hours prior to first use, with the cellphone off. I’ve not consciously charged my phone ever when it was turned off. I like to see the little bars go up.

Is having the power off a necessity? If so, can I regain any power on fading batteries by charging them in this method?

TIAFAHYMPO!

sheesh, please don’t expect me to remember what that means in a day or so!
