I have a Nokia (6305i) slider phone that has an extendable antenna. Unfortunately, it’s on the right side of the phone, so when I’m trying to text, I can’t wrap my index finger around the top comfortably.
I’d like to modify it by unscrewing the protruding piece, turning the antenna upside down (because the expendable piece only works when it is in electrical contact with the base), and cutting the head off. That would allow me to have a phone without a protruding antenna.
What would doing this do to the quality of my (Verizon) signal? It doesn’t seem to have an effect on the strength displayed, but the bars aren’t very precise.
Approximate dimension of the protrusion is 3/4", while the extendable antenna is 3".
