It’s not the phone itself, it’s the fact that the phone has enabled the social defectives to have yet another outlet by which to annoy the world. That’s what it comes down to. Why pay to see a movie, or a concert or whatever, if you’re willing to forego it for a phone call? What’s the point? You’ve just annoyed everyone around you by taking them out of the experience with the interruption, and you aren’t going to be able to pay attention. And the drivers who refuse to signal or shoulder check because they’re too busy talking on their damn phone make me want to kill for a living. Or assholes who talk on their phone while being waited on, thus ignoring the person trying to help them. Or fuckheads who talk extremely loudly on a quiet bus about the fact that they are on the bus and will be home in 10 minutes. Or people who leave their shopping carts in the middle of the aisle… Oh wait, that’s for another thread.
Are you somehow implying that only females are the one abusing cell phones? I don’t think so, pal. Most of the people I see walking around with cell phone-itis are of the male type. Every guy I see in a car is always on the freaking phone. Who and what is that important?
My cell phone gripe? I see people all the time in the grocery store or at the mall with those little tiny ear-bud hands-free things attached to the cell phone, while they’re walking and talking. Too busy to actually hold the phone, apparently.
And it makes it look like they’re talking to themself, or even worse, asking you a question. It freaks me out whenever I see someone walking along, having a conversation seemingly with voices in their head, until I see the telltale cord trailing down their shirt to the phone attached to their hip.
